Goal 10: Career Planning and Development
Reflection:
The importance placed on the ability to use the skills developed during the attainment of a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology is vital. After graduation from their undergraduate institution psychology students must present their skills and knowledge to prospective graduate schools or employers in a comprehensive and effective manner. In order to do this effectively students must become self aware of what skills, achievements, and interests they have acquired individually.

Who Am I? Autobiographical Writing Assignment -- (Word Document) | |
File Size: | 37 kb |
File Type: | doc |
Rationale:
I created this document while an undergraduate student enrolled in PSYSC 295, Orientation to a Major Psychology, at Ball State University. This particular assignment was designed to create self-awareness of each student as not only a psychology major, but also as a prospective employee or graduate school student. By completing this assignment I developed a more in depth view of myself and the skills I posses and skills I need to expand upon in order to be successful in the psychology field.
Because this was my first writing assignment due in this course I was unsure of what was expected of me as a student, and had not completed an assignment assessing my own self, so I would consider this a weakness in the creation of this document. Many students do not have the opportunity to develop assignments that cultivate feelings of self-awareness and identity in this context, so I find myself fortunate to have this experience. In order to get the most out of this assignment I created lists for each question such as; my psychological interests, adjectives to describe myself, and skills I currently have that illustrate the 10 most desirable traits of psychology majors. This would be what I consider to be a strength: my writing process, the creation of the lists and the preparation put into the assignment before I began writing. By creating the lists and giving myself ample time to complete the assignment I feel more comfortable with the education I have fostered while an undergraduate student.
