Goal 8: Sociocultural and International Awareness
Reflection:
The world is made up of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. As psychology students it is important to have knowledge about and respect for individuals who come from differing backgrounds. Being knowledgeable of different backgrounds, religions, and cultures can open a psychologist up to a wide range of clients.

Social Identity Interview - (WORD DOCUMENT) | |
File Size: | 44 kb |
File Type: | doc |
Rationale:
This document was created because of an assignment in PSYSC 325, Prejudice and Discrimination, at Ball State University. This assignment was designed to create a dialogue and an understanding between myself and a person that identifies themselves differently than I do. By interviewing a person who is different than me on more than one dynamic created an interesting and educational interview.
A strength of this assignment would be that the individual that I interviewed provided in-depth and well thought out answers to the questions posed by this assignment. While the questions were predetermined by the professor, how the interviewee and I answered the questions were unique to our situation. A weakness of this paper would be that it does not elaborate enough on why certain beliefs were held by the interviewee. This just focused on the answering of the questions asked, without any background knowledge of myself or the person being interviewed.
